Hello, fellow fans!

It's been a while since there has been any action in this community, but in my travels today I see that there are some new book covers for our beloved series!

Pretty, yes?

Also, I hope you've all booked your tickets to a midnight screening of Deathly Hallows (Part 1)! I know I have!

Hi All,

I'll be at O'Malleys on Sunday, 13 September 2009 @ 3:00pm.

Anyone care to join me?

Due to lack of response, this has been postponed again. How about y'all let me know when you're free?

So... anyone keen for a meetup soon?

I'm outta town for this weekend, but don't let that stop you!

I might be up for next Sunday (13 September) if anyone is keen?

Anyone keen for a meetup this weekend?

I won't be able to make it, but I thought I'd throw it out there ;)

So, we should have all seen HBP by now. If not, you'd better have a good excuse ;)

Wow. WOW.

I personally loved it. I was disappointed with the removal/addition of a few scenes (and characters!), but I think I can safely say this is probably one of my favourite movies of the series (we all know #3 wins, hands-down!).

So, who wants to share their thoughts? Movie/Book Spoilers are in the comments, people, so don't go clicking if you don't wanna know.

Comment here or at the site.

Well, it's that time of year again - MOVIE RELEASE TIME!

Most of you are in the know already, but here's the low-down:

15 July 2009, Southbank Cinemas: 10:00am

There has been no official release of the Showing Times at Southbank, but it's a safe bet to say it'll be around 10 in the morning. I'd strongly suggest buying tickets online (when they become available - still no luck on the site). If I know you and you don't have access to a Credit Card etc to purchase your tickets, please let me know and I will arrange to buy yours for you. If I buy your ticket and you do not come along, I'll still need your money. FYI ;)

Costumes are entirely optional, so don't feel pressured. I'm feeling rather lazy this year myself, so I won't be dressing up :P

(x-posted to Holly & Phoenix)

FYI, for those that aren't able to make the first session, Kate has organised a Meetup Group event at 8pm at Balmoral Cinemas.

[info]dienacht may also be planning a night-time event if she is unable to take the time off work, but I'm sure she'll let y'all know when she finds out!

Anyone in favour of postponing the July Meetup (due this Sunday), since the movie release is a fortnight away?

Still no update on the Cineplex Website regarding session times for the movie, but their other movies tend to start around 10:00am, so I'm confident HP will be at the same time.

Hey guys,

Tickets have officially gone on sale today at Greater Union. Is anyone interested in taking the Wednesday (15 July) off of work/uni/whatever to go see the movie?

There’s an 11:00am session at the Regent, and a 10:00am session at the Myer Centre. There’s been no times announced yet for Southbank Cineplex Cinemas. Alternatively, we could go to the ‘burbs and watch it in Gold Class :) :) :)

Anyone keen?

What: The Holly & Phoenix June 2009 Meetup
When: Sunday, 7th June 2009, 3:00pm
Where: Mick O’Malley’s Irish Pub, Wintergarden

We’re starting with a later time this weekend - 3:00pm. At the moment having the meetup on the first weekend of the month is easier to remember, so it will stay as is for now. This may be discussed more in future, though.

It was mentioned at the last meetup that the first Sunday of the month, 1:00pm, was not really the best time for a lot of people. So we are now opening up the floor for suggestions! (except the floor is actually a comment form)

What recurring day/time would suit you best? First Sunday? Last Sunday? Saturdays?

Since new Harry Potter sources are few and far between, we’re also widening the discussion at Holly & Phoenix to include other fantasy movies, books, tv series etc. Yes, that includes Twilight. Even WE have a love/hate relationship with it.

Another great idea, and potential source for lively discussion, is the inclusion of a bookclub or recommended reading list. There are lots of great fantasy books out there, and quite a good deal of Australian fantasy authors waiting to be re-discovered.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on both issues.

Please note that we will not be having a meetup this weekend. We will wait for feedback before scheduling the next one.
